WHO WE ARE?
Jashn-e-Urdu
Jashn – e – Urdu is a celebration of the rich Urdu heritage and culture. Over the past many years, it has been our constant endeavour to bring together the established and emerging names in the field of Urdu and Hindi poetry and literature and help create magical spells of artistic excellence, that live forever in the hearts of the audience. Our love for the grace and elegance of the HINDI & URDU languages inspires us to bring to you closer to these languages.
Jashn-e-Urdu is a platform dedicated towards the beautiful languages of love, peace and harmony. We share with you stories, shayaris and Kavita in URDU and HINDI that promises to bring a smile on your face and leave you with a “Waah” at the end of every verse. With a sole aim to promote and preserve the culture, languages and literature of our land, we organize cultural events that are graced by eminent personalities of Hindi and Urdu literature. We are constantly and tirelessly working with an aim of taking Urdu and Hindi poetry and literature to new heights of popularity.
Our journey so far has been eased by the support of like minded patrons and admirers of Urdu and Hindi poetry and literature, who have extended their love and affection towards this field to us, and have made it possible for us to earn and enjoy a name of reputation in cultural echelons. It is really fascinating to see people from varying backgrounds, ages, and beliefs converge together just because of their cherished appreciation for these art forms.
We envision to bring forth the beauty and serenity of these charming and fascinating languages by means of art gatherings in the form of mushaira, kavi sammelan and more to share a host of shayaris, stories, poems, ghazals, nazms etc, and to entice and enthrall the audiences with the mystical world of Urdu and Hindi culture for ages to come.
OUR FOUNDER
Syed Farhaan Wasti
Till a couple of decades ago, the Dubai mushairas were a rage, and eminent Urdu poets from the world over used to recite their work at numerous such events. However, with the demise of Mr. Saleem Jaffery, who was instrumental in bringing the mushairas to Dubai, organization and promotion of such events started declining, even though patrons of the Urdu adab were in thousands.
Jashn-e-Urdu is the brainchild of Syed Farhaan Wasti, who took it upon himself to shoulder this task, and resolved to take these events to a whole new level.
Jashn-e-Urdu was conceptialized in 2016, before that, Syed Farhaan Wasti was the general secretary of “HAMARI Association” which successfuly organized 6 massive international events in Dubai.
Syed Farhaan Wasti, hailing from Masauli, Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh, is a notable figure deeply involved in promoting Indian arts, culture, and languages. Raised in a Sufi family with ancestral ties to Sadat e Bilgram, he carries a strong appreciation for his roots. Since 1994, Syed Farhaan Wasti has been residing in the Middle East, which includes various countries like Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain and UAE.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Syed Farhaan Wasti actively engages in social work and has made significant contributions in various domains. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a vital role in helping repatriate the bodies of those affected and worked closely with the Indian consulate to facilitate the process.
One of his primary passions is organizing events that showcase the rich heritage of Indian arts and culture. Syed Farhaan Wasti has been instrumental in arranging mushairas (poetic symposiums), kavi sammelans (poetry gatherings), and other cultural programs in multiple countries, including India. These events serve as platforms for established artists as well as up-and-coming talents, nurturing and promoting their skills.
Syed Farhaan Wasti has collaborated with renowned personalities such as Javed Akhtar, Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Ashok Chakradhar, Bashir Badr, and others. His work with Jashn e Urdu, an organization he founded, focuses on organizing and participating in events related to Indian arts and culture. Even during the pandemic, he utilized online platforms to connect important poets and artists from Bollywood, creating engaging virtual experiences.
Apart from his involvement in the arts, Syed Farhaan Wasti is an expert in the fields of swimming pool construction, water features, interiors creation, and maintenance. This expertise has contributed to his versatile skill set and allowed him to leave a mark in multiple industries.
Throughout his endeavors, Syed Farhaan Wasti firmly believes in the values of peace, love, and sharing, which he actively promotes in his personal and professional life. By fostering cultural exchange, supporting emerging talent, and advocating for the Hindi and Urdu languages, he consistently works towards enriching society and preserving India’s diverse heritage.
